Mad Money Cramer

Jon Stewart, Jim Cramer Still At War Over CNBC

Mad Money Cramer Jon Stewart was supposed to take it easy now that Barack Obama was elected, and George W. Bush was out as President. Without Bush to mock for eight years, Jon Stewart was supposed to crash and burn without any Republicans in power to comically rant at. But Jon Stewart has had no trouble finding a new enemy to go after - the entire CNBC network. However, Jim Cramer has become the new face of Jon Stewart's running gag.

Over the last week, Jon Stewart has gone from focusing on Al Santelli, to all of CNBC, to Jim Cramer in his poking at CNBC. Jim Cramer has often been a guest on the Comedy Central news show, and was even a guest on The Colbert Report the week before this all started.

Jon Stewart began this mini-war by addressing Al Santelli, who was supposed to be on The Daily Show last week, but cancelled. According to Stewart, even if Santelli showed up, he would have shown a clip of Santelli's now-famous rant against homeowners late on mortgages, and took him to task for being soft on companies who received bailouts by comparison.

Once the Stewart bit about Santelli aired, it stirred up a lot of Internet chatter. So Stewart moved on to target all of CNBC. Stewart did this the same way he always does - use his expansive library of clips to catch CNBC pundits in lies, contradictions, and boneheaded statements.

Politicians haven't learned to watch themselves, or that Stewart and The Daily Show have clips of everything they say, no matter how contradictory. CNBC pundits are apparently no different.

Jim Cramer's part in the ordeal came when Stewart played a clip of Cramer endorsing Bear Sterns on Mad Money, just days before it collapsed. When Cramer said the clip was taken out of context, Stewart played several more clips of Cramer promoting Bear Sterns and saying it was safe to invest in.

Cramer, who prides himself on showmanship, actually took to the other CNBC shows to respond to Stewart's clips. Naturally, Stewart showed those clips on The Daily Show last night. So he did some cross promotion on other Viacom shows to strike back - by inserting himself into Dora the Explorer and The Hills.

Cramer dismissed Stewart as "a comedian" with "a variety show." With The Daily Show and The Colbert Report taking down a wide range of people, using their own words against them, for many years, one might think more people would have learned to watch out for them.

And yet, what began as one of Stewart's traditional takedowns of one CNBC pundit, has now spread into a full fledged war - a.k.a "Basic Cable Personality Clash Skirmish 09" Who will be drawn into the Mad Money Daily Report fire next?

Considering the awful quality of his advice, how does Jim "Mad Money" Cramer stay employed?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Cramer Cramer has repeatedly made awful recommendations. He recommended buying Bear Stearns right before that stock crashed. Recently, he did the same thing with Lehman Brothers. Back before the Dot-Com crash, Cramer was recommending that people buy Dot-Com stocks and actually said that Dot-Coms were the only stocks worth owning. He has even used his programs to promote his own company's stock. Repeatedly, his picks have been shown by independent analysts to have performed far worse than market averages. How does this guy stay employed? Does CNBC really want him to continue to undermine the credibility of their network? Why would anybody listen to his recommendations when determining what stocks to buy?

Do you think the CEO of Wachovia lied ?
Two weeks ago he was on the Mad Money Cramer show and he told Cramer face to face that Wachovia only had about $10 billion dollars in bad loans...not $40 plus. He also said Wachovia would get thru this down time. So...after hearing this we decided to keep our Wachovia stock. Yesterday morning, out of nowhere, we hear the announcement about them being bought by Citicorp and the stock has already plumeted to $1 per share. Doesn't something sound a little fishy with this whole situation? Did the CEO lie on t.v. or did he really not know how much debt they had. He is a fairly new CEO. Also, isn't the abrupt takeover kind of suspicious? It practically happened over the weekend. What about the shareholders? Don't they get a say in this matter? How much do you think Bob Steel will receive in severance and shouldn't he be investigated for "cooking his books?"
